This collection documents Leigh Kamman's career as a jazz radio host. Materials include day planners, correspondence, musician biographical information and press releases, newspaper clippings, radio scripts and photographs. Folders within the subseries are organized alphabetically. The Musician File series includes a selection of materials Kamman received from musical artists throughout his career.

Some files many contain correspondence, notes from Kamman, and newspaper clippings. Others will simply contain a brief press packet. Media such as CDs and photographs are also found in many of the musician files. Leigh Kamman was a radio announcer, narrator, and writer known for his long career promoting jazz through the airwaves.

While Kamman never played an instrument himself, he spent his life creating multiple jazz radio shows, producing a wide range of concerts, and writing articles, reviews, and liner notes for jazz artists. He was best known as host of The Jazz Image , a weekly program produced by Minnesota Public Radio and broadcast in markets nationwide.
