House of the dragon wins its first emmy, for costume design

The season finale of House of the Dragon, a prequel to Game of Thrones, aired on Sunday, attracting millions of fantasy fans. Behind the photo-realistic visual effects and complex plots is a massive production effort, with the show's costumes impressing both audiences and critics. Emmy award-winning designer Caroline McCall from Portadown in County Armagh joined the show for its second season and plays a vital role in bringing the fictional kingdom of Westeros to life.

Caroline was brought in to succeed the renowned designer Jany Temime, best known for her work on the Harry Potter films, who laid a solid groundwork for the series. Hailing from County Armagh, Caroline discovered her passion for costume design at an early age, inspired by theatre productions at Belfast's Grand Opera House. Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater sat together and shared a close moment at the Awards despite arriving separately.
